The Heartsaver CPR Course teaches lay rescuers how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child and infant victims. Students also learn to recognize the warning signs of heart attack and stroke in adults and breathing difficulties in children. The program is divided into a choice of three different courses. Heartsaver CPR for All Ages teaches CPR and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction in the adult, the infant, and the child.

These courses offer an American Heart Association textbook, which should be reviewed prior to class. Upon Successful completion of a course, each participant will be issued an American Heart Association E-card certificate verifying they have successfully completed the course. The recognition period is two years for AHA courses.
