Diabetes Self-Management Education Program

Diabetes touches more lives than most people realize. According to the Centers for Disease Control, 29 million people in the United States (9.3 percent) have diabetes. Its diagnosis increases every year in adults and children – and many people who have it don't even know it. To help manage this community crisis, DeKalb Health offers a Diabetes Self-Management Education Program led by team that includes a registered dietitian, registered nurse, certified diabetes educator, pharmacist, exercise physiologist and a medical social worker. The program staff works closely with the patient’s family physician to ensure the best outcomes.

DeKalb Health’s Prenatal Classes help new mothers and their families prepare for the changes new babies bring. Our infant care experts develop and instruct classes in nutrition, labor/delivery, newborn care, first-year growth and development and newborn safety. Classes fill up quickly. It’s recommended to complete any prenatal education before 38 weeks. Need-based financial assistance is available to those who qualify. The class is a day-long session and you will have 1 hour for lunch on your own.
